Right after Chelsea took our "family picture" Maile and the kids thought we were kidding. So we told everyone, "This is for real...no joking (I guess they are used to our teasing ways :-) ) So we said we can prove it by showing them the suburban's trunk packed with their clothes. I had completely packed them while they were at school. We also snuck their backpacks when they got home and put in lots of goodies for the plane ride as well as their week's homework for the time they would miss at school. Yes...even their teachers were in on the big secret!

When we lifted the trunk to the suburban, Maile jumped up and down while Regan burst out in tears and cried saying, "I don't want to go to Florida! I want to stay here!" It turns out that he had burned into his memory a night a long time ago where we watched the Discovery Channel where they showcased Florida's poisonous snakes especially the cotton mouths. He also loves the weather, so he had been following the hurricanes down there and thought we were taking him to see one in person.

Here we are in the car...Eva was screaming because she wasn't feeling well...she had strep and was on her meds...but still cranky as all get out, so I sat next to her. Regan was still bawling as we explained to him that Ike had gone to Texas instead and that we wouldn't be seeing any cotton mouths.

After the kids really realized that we were going to have fun in Orlando and that we weren't going to see hurricanes and snakes, they were super excited. Regan told the security man at the security line that his name was Regan Mark Batchelor because he was named for his uncle who died in a car accident and that we are going to Orlando as a surprise...we laughed as he was telling his man his life's story. So... here we are getting onto the plane. Ryan told the kids to touch the outside of the plane for luck...something he does and has done since a kid.

Part of Eva's bag included a plush Rocket from the Little Einsteins. She would fly Rocket around and then put his nose to the window and tell Rocket to look at the big jets and airplanes.

Oh how fun! You should have told me you were down in my neighborhood, kind of. We live 3 1/2 hours away from Orlando. It looks like you guys had a great time!
