Service and other fun

The next morning, we busted out some of our Jelly Belly fun and tasted every one of the beans. We brought back jalapeno peppers for Ana as she loves spicy things. We can't get over how true to life the tastes are to the named item. Blueberry really does taste like blueberries! Ariana and Ryan had fun picking up one jelly bean at a time and figuring out what flavor it was.
Regan's fourth grade class as well as another fourth grade class organized a service project during the holidays. Ryan, Grandma Red, Maile, Regan, and I all went to Feed My Starving Children to help package food for children in need from around the world. We had a ton of fun being together and working together for this good cause. Feed My Starving Children is a Christian organization that sends food to many countries in need. They have a food package that includes rice, protein powder, veggies, and soy that people in need can cook. It was amazing to see the pictures of children who are severely undernourished before and after the food they received! Ryan and I got teary eyed as we looked at the pictures and videos. We truly live in blessed area and felt very grateful to be able to help others in some small way. We assembled the packages, weighed, sealed, and boxed them. Our group packaged enough food to feed 73 children for an entire year!!! Regan and Maile told us that they had a great time and that they were very grateful to be able to help.

That night, we decided to play a game that Ryan and I bought at the Jelly Belly factory. It is a game that has a spinner on it. They have 20 different flavors in the game. Ten of the flavors are good tasting, and 10 are rotten tasting...but they look identical, so you don't know if you are getting the good bean or the bad tasting bean. We had so much fun playing this game!!! We were rolling with laughter as we would spin the wheel and taste the beans. Let me just tell you that Jelly Belly has mastered the flavors...so a rotten egg bean really does taste like a rotten egg. When we would taste a bean, we would blow out our breath so others could smell, and let me tell you, they really did smell like the item they were. It was AMAZING!!!

We gathered around and one by one, took a bean. We would laugh as someone would land on moldy cheese, centipede, barf, boogers, skunk juice, rotten eggs, pencil shavings, tooth paste, baby wipe to name a few.
